As a Sussex based company we applaud Robert Worsley’s decision to give up £275m to save Twineham.
Robert Worsley, 48, lives on 550-acre farm close to the South Downs in Twineham, West Sussex. He was offered life-changing sum by developers Mayfield to build a 10,000-home development. He told the developers ‘we are a rural community who don’t want this development’
I hope I am speaking for an awful lot of people who would have their quality of life diminished and the enjoyment of the countryside, which is the reason why they live here, diminished, too. ‘It’s not really about me. It’s about the fact that Sussex is being eroded away. That is the story I would like to tell.’
And it’s a story which, let’s hope, will be celebrated locally for generations.
